Throwback Thursday - Fashion Flashback

It's funny how things cycle back around in fashion.  It can either make you feel nostalgic or really old.  While visiting family my grandmother took one look at my outfit and came out with some old pictures.  She shared these lovely pictures of herself when she was a bit younger than me.  Funny how we had on similar looks with the ballet flats and rolled up denim capris pants.  Some looks are timeless and practical too.  Other times you wish it hadn't come around the first time.  I find the fashion of my youth coming back around.  I was a child of the '80s.  Pencil jeans, leggings and neon colors are not new.  My niece and her friends however are under the impression they first discovered neon pink.  At times I am nostalgic when I see them looking as I did at their age.  Suddenly I feel quite old when I realize I am now a mother and my grays start to show.  When you get a funny look from others while you are shopping you know it is time to step away from the skinny jeans and head to the misses section of the store.

I am always looking for an appropriate but stylish mom uniform.  I am bouncing between maxi dresses and capri pants with cardigans.  For now I must dress in layers to shed with the occasional spit up and have easy access without stripping to my skivvies to nurse.  Staying relevant is not always a priority.  Sometimes it's not even an option.  Soon enough I will be back to wearing whatever I please.  I don't know what I will do with that much freedom.  Until then I am happy to stick to the classics and wait for the next fashion cycle.
