Motivational Monday - Trust Me

This weeks verse is Proverbs 31:11

In her the heart of her owner has put trust, and there is no gain lacking.

What does that mean for me? First look back at who was giving the requirements.  This was an admonition to a young man.  A king actually.  His mother was giving wise counsel that is still relevant today.  What she was saying to her son was that a good wife doesn't need to ask her husband for his input in every decision.  He should not insist that she obtain his approval for every little thing either.  Of course, we should consult with each other before making major decisions, such as finances and child rearing, but decorating and what to eat for dinner is where I draw the line.

My husband has enough to think about on a daily basis.  He runs a business and has his own chores to worry about.  Does he really need to be involved in the new sheets I buy for the bed or what kind of table linens look best in our dining room?  Not really.  Initially you rationalize that he wants to be involved.  If it's important to me he is sure to care about such things.  Really, that's silly.

My husband trusts me to take his likes and dislikes into consideration.  I know he is not a big fan of fussy and frilly decor.  I know he detests the color taupe and all colors in that spectrum.  I also know he despises bananas and liver is a big no go for dinner.  Why then should I ask him about such trivial things.  He trusts I will make a good decision.  He knows me as well as I know him.  He knows I love jewelry but front loading laundry machines makes my heart swell with love.  He knows I always have his best interest at heart.

There's nothing I wouldn't do for that man and the beautiful person created by our love.  He trusts me with his whole heart and he is never disappointed.
